| Review Summary |
"A story of a troubled, yet personable, young man, obsessed with his domineering mother and his struggle to rid himself of her constant disapproval of his life choices."
--Kathy Wright, Resident Psycho Scholar

" Psycho is my favourite film. It's Disturbing, classic, and masterful. Tony Perkins is excellent as Norman Bates. So is lovely Janet Leigh as Marion Crane. This also the best shot movie of all time. Also with: Vera Miles as Lila Crane. We all know the story, and if i give it away, what's the point!"
--Movie Guy, Resident Psycho Scholar

"Essentially, a woman stops at the infamous Bates Motel where previous madness leads to something much more heinous."
--Bruce Lee Pullen, Resident Psycho Scholar
|
"An officeworker (Leigh) races out of Phoenix with $40,000 of her employer's money in the hope that she can hook up permanently with her married lover. She pulls off the road at the tiny Bates Motel and meets the quiet, queer manager, Norman Bates (Perkins), who seems to be dominated by his unseen mother. Hitchcock's bracing murder-in-the-shower scene is justly famous for its incredible impact yet taste, and he manages to build unbearable suspense in this 1960 film without resorting to the dim lighting, sniggering references to sex and nudity, or onscreen gore of hundreds of cheap imitations since."
--David Loftus, Resident Psycho Scholar
|
"Psycho is one of those movies that because of a famous scene (i.e. the shower scene,) everyone knows what happens, and although part of our pop culture, few people have seen. I defenitely recommend Psycho if you've never seen a Hitchcock film."
--Jenna Evans, Resident Psycho Scholar
