Starring: Brian Donlevy, Ella Raines, Helen Walker, Charles Coburn, Tony Barrett
Walter Williams (Brian Donlevy) is a man on top of the world. He has climbed the corporate ladder and at this point in his life he has it all. A Beautiful wife that he dotes on, fancy convertible, a lovely penthouse suite with a view, fine clothes and plenty of money. But his bubble is soon burst when he finds out his dear wife has a boyfriend on the side and together they have an evil plan to kill him off.

Walter falls easily into the trap set by the deviously enchanting Mrs. Williams (Helen Walker) and her latest love (Tony Barrett). The unsuspecting Mr. Williams believes he is doing a good deed by giving a long lost cousin a ride to Denver. The dastardly plan is foiled when the bad boyfriend bungles the murder attempt and steals the car in panic. There is a horrible accident and the body is burned beyond recognition. The police assume it is Walter Williams. At least for a while.

Walter is heartbroken by his wife's unfaithfulness and wanders into a small town still dazed. He settle in quickly and lets everyone believe he has departed this earth. A local beauty (Ella Raines) and his conscious eventually get the better of him. He then decides to return to San Francisco to face the music.

Through diligent investigation Lt. Tom Quincy(Charles Coburn) gets to the bottom of the story. Will justice be served where justice is due?
