| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Angel Face |
ANGEL FACE is a movie produced by Howard Hughes and directed by Otto Preminger in 1952. Music by Dimitri Tiomkin.
Robert Mitchum, an ambulance driver, finds the wealthy Mrs Tremayne in a state of shock and claiming she was poisoned after her husband Herbert Marshall has called the local hospital. Jean Simmons, Mrs. Tremayne's stepdaughter, follows Mitchum and seduces him. She eventually asks him to drive her sportscar at the next car race. Mitchum, a former mechanic, is beginning to neglect his girlfriend Mary and accepts a job at the Tremayne's house as a chauffeur. He soon understands that Jean Simmons hates her stepmother for having destroyed her father's career as a writer. As Mitchum is about to leave the dangerous Simmons, Mr. and Mrs. Tremayne are killed in an automobile accident in front of their home. The police suspect Simmons and Mitchum to have sabotaged the car and both must face a trial. Their lawyer suggest they get married in order to win the jury's sympathy.
