THE WOMAN NEXT DOOR is a movie cowritten and directed by François Truffaut in 1981. The picture earned two nominations for the french Academy Awards.
Bernard lives a happy life with his wife and his little boy in a small town near Grenoble, France. One day, new neighbours, Mathilde and Philippe, move into the house next to Bernard's home. This event will greatly disturb Bernard's quiet life as he and Mathilde had a passionate love affair 8 years before. Both will soon secretly live a new passion but the psychological pressure is too important for Mathilde who suffers from a nervous breakdown and must be hospitalized. As hard as they try, both lovers can't separate.
