| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Wedding in Blood |
WEDDING IN BLOOD (Les Noces Rouges) is a movie written and directed by Claude Chabrol in 1973. The picture was nominated for the Golden Bear and won the FIPRESCI Award at the 1973 Berlin Film festival.
Stéphane Audran is married to the deputy Claude Piéplu and Michel Piccoli to Clotilde Joano, a depressive woman spending most of her time lying in her bed. Audran and Piccoli begin a passionate love affair that will lead them to get rid of their respective spouses. The events described in this acid description of the french provincial bourgeoisie are based on a real story.
