Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Battle Beyond the Stars
The evil overlord Sador is going to take over the plant Akir. The Akirians send out their only space ship, piloted by a volunteer, to find mercenaries who will fight to save their planet. Based on Akira Kurasowa's "The Seven Samurai", just like "The Magnificent Seven" was. Robert Vaughn even plays the same type of character he did in "The Magnificent Seven". The name of the "Akirians" seems to be a direct tribute to Mr. Kurasowa.
