| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Desperately Seeking Susan |
Desperately Seeking Susan, other than being Madonna's first starring role is a film about a houswife named Roberta who loves to read the personals. Played by Roseanna Arquette, Roberta passes the time following the progress of Susan who regularly contacts her boyfriend Jim through the ads. When she sees the two are meeting in New York Roberta goes along, ending up buying Susan's coat. Finding a locker key in the pocket she then advertises for a meeting with Susan. Jim sends his projectionist friend played by Aidan Quinn along to see what is going on, and when Roberta hits her head and gets amnesia, naturally he assumes she is Susan and trouble ensues.
