|Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Angels in America|
|Based on the play by Tony Kushner, HBO made a movie version featuring an all-star cast. Prior Walter (Justin Kirk) plays a homosexual man who just tells his lover, Lou (Ben Shenkman), that he is dying of Aids. Lou runs off because he is afraid of sickness and death. He then joins up with an "in the closet" married coworker, Joe Pitt (Patrick Wilson). Joe Pitt is a Morman republican lawyer who works for Roy Cohn (Al Pacino) , a lawyer who also has Aids and is about to get disbarred. Getting confused yet? Pitt's wife Harper (Mary-Louise Parker) is Valium addicted and has wierd dreams that take her to places like Antartica. She is Valium addicted because she is not getting enough sex from Joe, because he's gay. Meanwhile, Prior is having dreams of angels and they tell him he is a prophet.
