| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Dolores Claiborne |
Selena returns home from New York City to the Maine coastal island she fled at 18, because her mother is now accused of murder -- for the second time in her life. Mother Dolores' flashbacks reveal the whereabouts and the motivations --then and now-- of mother, daughter, father, detective, and the socialite for whom Dolores has long worked and is now accused of killing. Selena and Dolores struggle to face the truth of Selena's childhood as much as Dolores' current trial.
--Linda Napikoski, Resident Scholar
