Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Recruit
James Clayton (Colin Farrell) is an extremely intelligent college graduate who Walter Burke (Al Pacino), a C.I.A Officer, wants to recruit. James quickly becomes top of the class and falls for one of his fellow recruits, Layla (Bridget Moynahan). He is sought out to find a 'mole' and James begins to realize that he can trust no-one and nothing is what it seems.

James Clayton (Farrell) is a computer programmer whose life changes when Walter Burke (Pacino) comes to him to recruit him for the CIA. During training where everything is to be considered a game, and therefore not really real, James meets Layla. The two are attracted to one another, but it's difficult to have any kind of relationship during the training period. After training is over, Burke gives James a covert assignment that involves spying on another agent - Layla. Just as in training, however, not everything is as it appears, although the game has gotten more dangerous. James just has to figure out what's going on and who he can trust before it's too late.
