| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Kickboxer |
Two brothers go to South East Asia so that the older one can test his martial arts skills in a traditional kickboxing tournament. Unfortunately, he is crippled during his fight by a sadistic, rule-breaking ruling champion of the tournament. The younger brother (Jean Claude Van Damme) decides to train in martial arts to avenge his brother. He does so with a help of an old local whose beautiful daughter becomes our protagonist's love interest.
Once he is comfortable with his skills, the man starts to help out the locals who are terrorized by thugs. Then against his brother's will, he enters in the above mentioned tournament. The final showdown between Van Damme and his nemesis is spectacular. The setting is very traditional and exotic. Both men are wearing skimpy loin cloths. The villain breaks the rules and nearly blinds the good guy. But nothing can stop Van Damme's character from avenging his brother. Soon the bad guy is nearly knocked out and trying to crawl out of the ring. Van Damme goes after him and finishs the job.
