| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Joy Baba Felunath - The Elephant God |
Joy Baba Felunath is a Bengali thriller directed by Satyajit Ray and set in the Holy Indian town of Benaras. Feluda (Soumitra Chatterjee) - the private detective created by Ray himself - is on vacation with his sidekicks Topshe(Siddhartha Chatterjee) and Lalmohan(Santosh Dutta) when a priceless idol of the Hindu God Ganesha is mysteriously stolen from a local household. Feluda confronts his biggest enemy - the ruthless businessman Maganlal Meghraj(Utpal Dutt) - to recover the relic and unravel the mystery. A quintessential detective movie, it maintains a brisk pace throughout and the climax is shot on the banks of the River Ganges.
