| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Piranha |
Written by John Sayles, PIRANHA is a Roger Corman production directed by Joe Dante (Gremlins) in 1978.
Piranhas genetically modified to live in salted or cold waters are accidentally thrown into an American river. A private detective searching for missing students tries to forewarn the army but she's jailed because a colonel made investments in a new summer resort that is just opening next to the river and doesn't want bad press. Meanwhile, the piranhas keep eating all those who have the misfortune to enjoy the water pleasures the river is offering to them.
