Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Battleship Potemkin
During the first decade of the twentieth century the crew of the battleship Prince Potemkin are tired of the horrible condition in which they serve. The meat is rotten and has maggots crawling all over them. A soup is made with the rotten meat and many of the men refuse to eat it. The Admiral orders the men on deck and separates the men who ate the meat from those who did not. He orders the death of the men who did not eat the meat. The sailors rise up and kill the officers and save the men.

The sailor who led the uprising is killed and the men place his body on the dock in Odessa. The citizens of Odessa are upset about the death and support the men on the Potemkin by bringing food to them. This support is met with armed resistance by the Tsarist army. The citizens of Odessa are killed on the steps of the harbor.

The Russian navy then seeks out the Battleship Potemkin with plans to destroy the ship.
