Directed by John Singleton in 2005. Evelyn Mercer is murdered during the robbery of a grocery store in Detroit. Her four adopted sons, Bobby, Jackie, Angel and Jeremiah, come to her funeral. As though police officers Green and Fowler tell them not to interfere with their investigation, the four brothers decide to avenge themselves their mother. They quickly find out that Evely was meant to be murdered that night. Bobby and Angel, after a wild car chase, kill the two hired killers who are linked to Victor Sweet, a criminal who rules this part of Detroit.

Victor Sweet sends six of his men to the Mercer's house. Jackie is killed during the assault. Lt. Green wants to arrest Victor Sweet but is killed by his partner Fowler who was the one who tipped Sweet about Evelyn Mercer when she was about to reveal to the authorities that Victor Sweet had bribed public officials in several occasions.

There was a robbery at the grocery store and the robbers were shooting all over the store because the wanted the money. A woman (Fionnula Flanagan) gets killed who happens to be the mother of the four adopted brothers ( Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin, Jack Mercer).

At the funeral, the brothers find out that their mother might be murdered. Then the four brothers quickly decide to take the matter of her death into their own hands. Now they have to track down the killer and as they go along they find out that there is something new in the way they do business again.

The two cops that are trying to solve the case seem to be very weird.
