Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey
Chance, Shadow, and Sassy are the beloved pets (two dogs and a cat) of three children. They love their owners very much, so much so that they become restless and worried when they are left on a friend's farm hundreds of miles away from home when the family goes on vacation.

As time goes on, Shadow decides that something is wrong, and that they must make their way home to their owners themselves. And so, the three pets break out of the farm, and run off into the woods.

And there, they face many dangers on the long journey home over a vast wilderness, including porcupines, cougars, the search for food, an animal rescue service that "traps them," river rapids, and the always-present worry that they'll never find their way home.

Meanwhile, the kids find out that their pets have run away, and the family puts out a desperate search for their beloved pets.
