| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Adversary |
THE ADVERSARY (L'Adversaire) is a French drama directed by Nicole Garcia in 2002.
The movie depicts the life of Jean-Marc Faure and his family who have just moved near Geneva, Switzerland. For fifteen years, Jean-Marc will lie to his wife, his children and his friends, pretending that he's working as a doctor at the World Health Organization in Geneva. Nobody will ever have doubts about his status. Every morning, Jean-Marc takes his car, heads to Geneva and spends the time reading or driving into the country. Convinced that Jean-Marc is also a smart financier, his friends trust him with important funds Jean-Marc will use to buy a house and give a suitable standard of living to his family. But, after all these years of lies and elaborate strategies, when a neighbour discovers that the WHO administration doesn't know him at all, Jean-Marc will then murder his wife, his children and his parents and burn his house.
