| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Whose Life is It Anyway? |
Art scupltor and teacher Ken Harrison lays in the hospital bed day in and day wondering what next to become in his life. After a near-death car accident, Harrison is paralyzed from he neck down, as his spinal cord ruptured from the horrible crash. The head doctor in the hospital Dr. Emerson gives Ken the bad news he will not be able to walk again and will have to heavily rely on machines as he lies in vegatitive state.
The thought of never be able to use his arms or legs, continuing on doing the work he loves and have no chances at making love to his wife Pat again, Harrison makes a hard desicion to let go of Pat so she can find happiness elsewhere, as he seems he is no use for her anymore. Accompanied by two females nurses, Nurse Rodriguez and Mary Jo, a young nurse trainee, he will often make light-hearted comments about being sexually and being physically challenged.
The only person who seems to get him is hospital worker John who understand the way he feels of never living life fully ever again. Ken's humor gets Harrison through the day- only for a brief moment as he is reminded daily of what became of him. With twenty-four hour cameras watching his condition in the room, he specifically make a request to Dr. Emererson to let him die so he can be free. Emerson every single time try to talk him down and keep him alive and it makes Harrison angrier and bitter each time. So Ken hires lawyer Carter Hill to fight the hospital establishment for his own right to die.
