Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Best in Show
Best In Show is the epitamy of comedy. The brilliant improv cast creates hilarious subtle touches that truly add to the experience. If you only watch this movie once you will not be doing the film justice.
--Will, Resident Scholar

The folks who brought you "This is Spinal Tap" and "Waiting for Guffman" return with a spoof on the Westchester dog show, renamed and moved from NY to Philadelphia. As in the other films, the movie pretends to be a documentary, and it follows the fortunes of several couples -- from Parker Posey's and Michael Hitchcock's ultimate yuppie lawyers, to a flagrantly gay couple (Michael McKean is part of this team) -- and their dogs (Weimaraner and Shih Tsu, respectively, in this case) as they prepare for and compete in the show. Kudos to long-suffering Eugene Levy and his beloved wife played by Catherine O'Hara, who seems to have slept with just about everybody they meet. Guest also acts in the sizable ensemble cast as well as writing and directing. The humor is fast, furious, but rarely cruel. A very funny and sweet film which dog lovers especially will adore.
--David Loftus, Resident Scholar

Waiting for Guffman's Christopher Guest directs and many of that films stars (Including Fred Willard as a loopy commentator) reunite for this zany look at dog show participants (and the pooches who love them). Join the fun as Mayflower Kennel Club competitors-A fly-fishing shop owner from Pine Nut, NC (Guest), Shih Tzu-doting partners (Michael McKean and John Michael Higgins), squabbling yuppies (Parker Posey and Michael Hitchcock), a dim-bulb trophy wife (Jennifer Coolidge) and her ace handler (Jane Lynch) and a married couple (Eugene Levy and Cathering O'Hara) who dream up ditties about terriers-wie for the top prize. It's Howlarious!
--Jessica W, Resident Scholar

Mockumentray of Dog Show written by Guest and Levy and directed by Levy. Hilarious satire of Dog Show circuit
