Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Deck the Halls
Matthew Broderick plays the role of Steve Finch, who is a suburban dad and a huge Christmas fan. Steve has a well-organized and well-planned life whereas his exact opposite is his new neighbor named Buddy Hall (Danny DeVito) with his scantily dressed wife named Tia Hall (Kristin Chenoweth).

Buddy has a big personality with big dreams. Buddy's big dreams have yet to materialize. Buddy's most recent dream is to create the largest holiday light display in the entire world, even noticeable from outer space. Buddy's crazy ideas are turning Steve's disciplined life into a chaotic nightmare.

Away from Steve vs. Buddy battle the movie offers several secondary and wildly underdeveloped plotlines, Steve's wife Kelly Finch (Kristin Davis) is an aspiring cookbook writer, his son Carter (Dylan Blue) is depressed, but still awfully cute, an overprotected teenage daughter Madison (Alia Shawkat) is secretly dating Navy ensigns.

As Buddy's go along with his experiments keep on exploding with festive lights of incredible design increases complexity. Steve becomes really annoyed by Buddy and went on a mission to ruin Buddy or top him at any cost.

This movie revolves around two neighbors in a small New England town crash when one of them decides to decorate his house for the Christmas holidays so brightly that it can be seen from outer space. This is a comedy movie, also known as “All Lit Up”, “Deck The Halls”.
