| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Matrix |
This movie is about Neo, a computer hacker who is trying to find out what the Matrix is. He finds out that he has been living in a "dream world" controlled by the machines. There are rebels who are trying to overthrow the machines and win the war. Neo is the "One" who can do this.

Thomas A. "Neo" Anderson (Reeves), a computer specialist, has a good job with Metacortex in what he thinks is the year 1999, but something keeps nagging at him that's incomplete or missing. Suddenly, he's drawn into a rebel conspiracy headed by Morpheus (Fishburne) which reveals to him that the year is really 2199, most of life as humans know it was destroyed in the interim, and computers and other machines rule the earth -- using humans kept in suspended animation as their power source and maintaining the illusion in their minds that they are living, breathing, working, etc. The entire setup is known as the Matrix. In order to overthrow this regime, Neo and the rest of the team will have to outrun and outfight the "agents" -- computer programs in virtual reality such as Mr. Smith (Weaving) who are superfast, have superstrength, and can change shapes or teleport from one place to another. Visually exhilarating, mixing CGI and thrilling martial arts work, this 1999 film was the first of a projected trilogy written and directed by the brothers Larry and Andy Wachowski.

Thomas Anderson, aka Neo, is trying to find out about a whole idea called the Matrix. What is the Matrix? Well, it's an artificial computer program where we live, designed by powerful robots who harvest humans in fields. After entering "The Real World," and meeting Morpheus, Trinity and the gang of super-cool humans who can do cool things, Neo saves humanity.

A full on action movie that explores the possibilities of an alternate earth. Action packed, fast moving movie, a science fiction genre with a little travel in space vehicles evading creatures. The movie is about a man caught up in events. He must find answers in a cruel puzzle. A very good movie for action scenes with lots of guns. Watch it if you like this sort of action.
