This is a classic romantic comedy set in the 1980s in which the protagonist overcomes his inner struggle and insecurities to 'win the girl'. Adam Sandler plays Robbie Hart, a wedding singer in the 1980s, who is trying to win Julia over from her jerk fiance, Glen. Glen is an investment banker, arrogant and cheating on Julia. Robbie is the archetypal 'Everyman' in the sense that the audience is rooting for him until the end.
The music in this movie is crucial; titled the Wedding Singer, set in the 80s, the soundtrack is definitive of the era. Julia and Robbie's workplace romance grows, as Robbie assists in exposing her fiance Glen and his cruel relationship antics against Julia. The cast of the movie contains several eccentric, funny and interesting characters.
The movie culminates in a scene on a plane as Julia is off to wed Glen in Vegas; Robbie serenades Julia with a self-written song, and a smitten Julia instantly realized she has loved him all along, leaving Glen. (There is even a cameo by Billy Idol!) This movie is by no means a tear-jerker with its 80s references and non-stop laughs, but the romantic sentiment is not lost on the viewer, who is left with a warm, fuzzy sense that justice is served.

The perfect couple. Only they do not know it....yet. Robbie's engagment to Linda ended in a horrible embarressment when she didnt turn up to the wedding.
Julia's engagement to Glenn end quite abruptly when she realises her name will be 'Julia Gulia'.
Predictably, Robbie and Julia, both hopeless romantics, fall head over heels for each other.

This is a colourful, feel-good movie, based in the 1980's, where Adam Sandlers gets the chance to showcase his romantic side as well as his funny, obnoxious side.
This is loaded with lots of happy characters and clever references to the crazy decade that we call the 1980's. Adam Sandler is dumped at the altar by his wife to be for being "only a Wedding Singer" and this is when the sweet Drew Barrymore comes in. It is obvious that the two are meant to be together, but there's just one obstacle - her sleazy fiance, who is only marrying her in a bid to shut her up, really.
Maybe not the most in-depth storyline, but the actors, music, and humour more than makes up for this.
