Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Four Weddings and a Funeral
The romantic smash hit of 1994 centers on a group of English friends, particularly Charles, played by Hugh Grant, who is fearful of commitment yet fascinated by a breezy American girl played by Andie MacDowell. There are indeed four weddings and one funeral in the film -- Rowan Atkinson (of "Black Adder" and "Mr. Bean") hilariously officiates at one of the former, and W.H. Auden's "Funeral Blues" is memorably read at the latter. This is the highest-grossing British-made film in history, with a take of more than $260 million worldwide. Absolutely delightful.
