| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Big Blue |
This is the story of Jaques, obsessed with sea and dolphins. His childhood friend, always wanting to prove he is better, will push both of them over the edge, with tragic results. The finale will let you wonder if Jaques has found what he's been looking for, or if his mermaids found his love true, and kept him with them.
This movie will make laugh, cry, have agony. The truly majestic underwater scenes, the beautiful landscapes of Peru, Italy, and Greece is one of the film's advantages.

This film is set in the world of free diving, a very dangerous, spirtual sport. The film plays like a sport/buddy movie with a little romance to boot. At its core the film looks at what it means to be human, and what our place is in the world. The main charecter strugles to fit in on the surface and ultimatelfinds his place in a very haunting final scene that will leave you thinking for hours after the film is over.
