| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Unforgiven |
William Munny was a brutal gunslinger who spared no one, not even women and children. Now he has left the life. A widower, he works on his Kansas ranch with his two children. One day, a youngster comes by and asks him to perform a bounty killing. Munny finds himself drawn back into the life in this revisionist western.

Retired killer Bill Munny gave up a life of thievery and murder for his wife. Now widowed and struggling to support his children, he decides to take one last job when he hears of a $500 bounty offered by the women of a brothel for the capture of a man who savagely beat one of their own. Munny (Eastwood) takes his old partner Ned Logan (Freeman) and the "Schofield Kid" who told him about the job (Jaime Woolvett). His principal opposition is the sheriff of the town, Little Bill Daggett (Hackman), who is a lawless, sadistic thug. From this foul and violent setting, Munny salvages a scrap of honor and decency for his rotten soul.
