Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Cross Creek
Over-confident, fiercely independent Marjorie Rawlings moves to Cross Creek, Florida to get in touch with her writing skills and have the isolation she needs to be creative. Finding the no man is an island, she gets to know her dirt poor neighbors, becomes a member of their community, and falls in love. We witness the process, and the real life events that inspired her novel, The Yearling. Rip Torn should have been nominated for an Oscar, as was Mary Steenburgen and Alfre Woodard. Excellent family movie.
