Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Sliding Doors
This is a very interesting plot. Helen (Gwyneth Paltrow) lives in London. She is living with a man who is cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend. She gets fired from her job and as she is going to catch the train back home, the movie splits into two different movies. The one where Helen misses the train and continues to live unknowingly with her unfaithful lover and the second part of the movie, where Helen arrives home unexpectedly, catches her boyfriend with his lover and moves out.
This movie goes back and forth between these two different lives she could be living. One moves on and finds a new love....the other gets a second job to help support the loser boyfriend.
This continues until one night, Helen in both lives ends up in the hospital.
One of her parallel lives dies. The other Helen that lives seems to have some kind of memory of things that happened to her parallel self.

--Jennifer, Resident Scholar

A woman's life is split in two when she loses her job and she takes the subway home. One part of her gets the subway and catches her boyfriend in bed with another woman, so she leaves and makes a new life for herself. The other part misses the subway and never sees her boyfriend with this woman and stays with him. Somehow at the end, her lives intertwine.
