| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Big Trouble in Little China |
Big Trouble in Little China is a fish out of water story for Jack Burton and the Pork Chop Express (his semi-truck). Jack is a cowboy, a trigger happy, smart alek, macho man who thinks that he is in charge of a situation no matter how much the situation tries to remind him that he is not. The story begins when Jack and his friend witness the kidnapping of a green-eyed woman who also happens to be his best friend's finacee by a gang of Chinese thugs. This where things take a turn for the worse.
The movie here sets us up for a simple rescue the damsel cliche but as the rescue attempt is progressing we realize that there is something more. We are introduced to the main villain Lo Pan. Lo Pan needs the woman because she has green eyes which is a rarity in Chinese people (according to the movie) and a feature that will allow the ancient wizard to regain his former potency.
Jack Burton faces the Three Storms (Lo Pan's powerful henchmen), Lo Pan himself, Egg (the wise old sage), and the army of the Yellow Turbaned gang in service to Lo Pan. His resolve is to rescue both his friend's fiancee and his new potential girlfriend (also having green eyes).

A trucker swings by to take his Chinese friend to meet his fiance, but she is kidnapped by three demons in service to the ghost of Lo Pan, who rules an empire under San Francisco. The two join with Lo Pan's ancient enemies and try to kill him before he marries the fiance, thus making him human again and enabling him to conquer the universe.
