THE WIND AND THE LION is a film written and directed by John Milius (Conan) in 1975.
The setting is Tanger, Morocco in 1904. An American woman (Candice Bergen) and her two children are kidnapped by el-Raisuli the Magnificent (Connery), chief of the Berbers, who wants to take revenge on his own family for having been held in captivity for years.
The president Theodore Roosevelt, in the middle of an election campaign, decides to send marines in order to deliver Bergen. But the situation is far more complex than it seems as the Sultan of Morocco -Connery's nephew- must also deal with France and Germany whose soldiers control Morocco's most important cities.
Meanwhile, Bergen and her children are well treated by el-Raisuli who succeeded in creating an explosive political situation without shedding too much blood.

An arab lord kidnaps an American from Morocco as part of a plot to steal power from his evil brother, who rules wiht the backing of Germany and France. This all takes place when Teddy Roosevelt is in DC, so naturally he sends in the Marines to get them back. A lot of fun, especially seeing Sean Connery as an Arab from Scotland.
