Robert Deniro is a thief, and his partner has a big score that will let him retire. But he has to use a young hot shot kid as a partner. The kid wants it all and uses him to get the goods and then sets him up to be the fall guy. But Deniro has been doing this for a long time and is not stupid. He manages to turn the tables on the kid.

This movie teams up three of the greatest actors (Robert Deniro, Marlon Brando, and Edward Norton)of each of their own generations. Robert Deniro plays a Canadian jazz club owner who has a second life of being a thief on the side. He has one rule that he maintains throughout his opposite life - never steal from your own hometown. Of course in the end he must decide if he should go against his own rules or not. Marlon Brando has a small role as Max, a man who sets up the connections for Deniro to go about his robberys. An accomplice to Max is played by Edward Norton who knows where a golden septor from the 14th century is hiddin. The septor is in a building where Norton works and pretends to be a down syndrome loner janitor. While watching the movie, I was reminded of older heist movies by the way things were played out in the film. This is a must see for any Deniro or Norton fan because of their fabulous actings through the movie.
