| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The 400 Blows |
THE 400 BLOWS ( Les 400 coups ) is a movie written and directed by François Truffaut. Best director at the 1959 Cannes Festival.
This film is the first entry in the Antoine Doinel saga, Truffaut's cinematographical double. Antoine is 14 years old, he lives with his mother and her new husband in a small apartment in Paris and does have some trouble at school. One day, he skips school with a friend and goes to the movies. His parents live their own lives and don't care much for him.
Essential.
