| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Vanishing (1988) |
THE VANISHING is a dutch movie based on Tim Krabbé's novel "The Golden Egg" and directed by George Sluizer in 1988. European Film Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for Johanna ter Steege.
A young dutch couple is going to spend some holiday in the south of France. While stopping at a gas station, the young woman disappears without a trace. His boyfriend becomes obsessed by the idea of finding out what really happened to her and, the next three years, spends his time and money with this purpose. Meanwhile, the killer observes him and in the end contacts him.
One of the most scariest and disturbing movies ever shot. Without a single drop of blood.
