| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Searchers |
This mid-1950s John Wayne western deals with a hard-boiled Civil War veteran pursuing Comanche Indians who have murdered his brother's family and kidnapped his 9-yr-old niece. The plot deals with revenge, persistence and determination over several years of trying to locate and recover her (a young adult Natalie Wood.) There are terrific landscapes of Monument Valley, which is supposed to be Comanche terriory of Texas. Laconic John Wayne is a Clint Eastwood predecessor.
