| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Bird with the Crystal Plumage |
THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE is the first movie written and directed by italian director Dario Argento in 1970. Cinematography by Vittorio Storaro and music by Ennio Morricone.
Sam Dalmas, an American writer staying in Rome, is on the verge of flying back to New-York when he witnesses a murder attempt on the wife of an art gallery owner. As three murders of young women have been committed the preceding weeks, police inspector Morosini, after having suspected him, asks Dalmas to stay in Rome and help him find the murderer. Meanwhile, the murderer kills another woman, always in the same manner : with a knife or a razor. Irritated by the alliance between the detective and the writer, the killer contacts Sam and threatens to hurt his girl-friend Julia if Sam doesn't leave Rome.
A reference of the giallo genre.
