| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Curse of the Jade Scorpion |
THE CURSE OF THE JADE SCORPION is a movie written and directed by Woody Allen in 2001.
NYC, 1940. Woody Allen plays the character of C.W. Briggs, a successful insurance investigator having a hard time with Helen Hunt, the newly engaged efficiency expert of his company who is also the mistress of Woody's boss, Dan Aykroyd. One night, Hunt and Allen are hypnotized by a night club magician who will later use his hypnotical power to force Woody to steal jewels in the houses of the insurance company's clients. Woody, unaware of his nightly criminal activities, investigates the cases and soon becomes the main suspect. After having been arrested, he escapes from prison thanks to Charlize Theron, a spoiled young woman attracted by Woody's supposed criminal genius. Woody asks Hunt for help but she's having in the same time some problems with a Dan Aykroyd still hesitating to divorce for her.
Witty and nearly perfect.
