Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Jerk
A white man, who was adopted and raised by a black family, feels like doesn't fit in so he decides to go off and find his place in the world.
He works several different jobs, trying to find his place.
Along the way, he falls in love. He invents the Optigrab, a handle for eyeglasses, and becomes rich. He has everything he's ever dreamed of. However, the optigrab causes eye damage. He's sued by eveyone who suffered damage and is forced to pay a huge settlement.
His fortune is gone. He leaves his home, leaving his wife behind. Homeless and broke, he's now living on the streets.
His wife contacts his black family and go to find him. Luckily, they're able to find him and take him back to live happily ever after.

The Jerk is a goofy movie about Navin Johnson, a guy who grew up in a poor black family and who wants to see the world. Navin becomes falls in love, becomes very wealthy and loses it all. In the end, his love (Bernadette Peters) and his family save him from life as a bum.
