| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Two English Girls |
Based on a novel from Henri-Pierre Roché, the author of "Jules & Jim", TWO ENGLISH GIRLS was written and directed by François Truffaut in 1971.
It's the beginning of the XXth century. Claude Roc, a young french man, is invited to spend some time in Wales, at her mother's best friend home. Her two daughters, Muriel and Ann, fall in love with him but Ann is intimately persuaded that Claude and Muriel form a perfect couple. Reluctant at first, the parents of the couple want them to separate for a year and, if they're still in love then, will accept the marriage. So, over a seven years period, Claude and Muriel will exchange letters, lie to each other and suffer a lot.
One of Truffaut masterpieces.
