| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Muppets Take Manhattan |
Jim Henson's Muppets brighten the screen within 1988's Muppets Take Manhattan. "Dogs, bears, chickens and...things" (a funny quote from the movie) graduate college and head out to New York City in hopes of producing a show on Broadway. They stay in the only housing they can afford--small 25-cents-a-day lockers--and spend their time approaching different Broadway executives, failing to impress any. They decide to split up, including Kermit and Miss Piggy, a frog and pig who are engaged, and follow their own personal career choices. Kermit is the only one who stays in New York with belief that they can still make it. While crossing the street one day, he is hit by a taxi and ends up with amnesia. Through luck, miracles, and the spirit of New York, the muppets get through it all and are successful in the end..."together again." (The title of the hit song from the movie).
