| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Raising Cain |
RAISING CAIN is a movie written and directed by Brian De Palma in 1992.
John Lithgow, as a child, has been psychologically molested by his father, a norwegian psychiatrist. He's married now to Lolita Davidovich but suffers from a rare kind of schizophrenia implying a splitting of personalities. As soon as he must do something difficult, John -Carter- Lithgow becomes John -Cain- Lithgow, the no-good side of his personality. Lithgow's father is still conducting experiments on children and asks Carter to kidnap 3 or 4 children of the neighborhood. Meanwhile, Lolita Davidovich is cheating on Carter with Steven Bauer. Cain becomes aware of that and decides to get rid of her.
Brian De Palma's most personal movie. In my opinion, a masterpiece.
