Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Open Your Eyes
OPEN YOUR EYES (Abre Los Ojos) is a movie written and directed by spanish director Alejandro Amenábar in 1997.

Madrid. César, a young man, wearing a mask and jailed for murder, explains to a psychiatrist the events that have lead him to this position. Some weeks ago, he met Penélope Cruz at a party and fell madly in love with her. The next morning, his jealous girlfriend Nuria tried to kill him in a car accident. Cesar, disfigured and depressed, after having undergone several surgical operations, decides to search for Penelope but strange dreams begin to haunt him and he soon can't see the difference between them and reality.

Superb movie, that inspired VANILLA SKY, of the director of THE OTHERS. To be discovered.

--Daniel Staebler, Resident Scholar
