Fishermen find a man floating in the sea. The man has amnesia. His only posession is the number of safe deposit box. He finds the box full of cash, several different passports and a gun. As he begins his search for his identity, he discovers he has skills that a normal man shouldn't have. Suddenly, people start trying to kill him. With the help of a girl, he escapes. Now, he struggles to keep himself and the girl alive. He learns that he is an assassin for the CIA. He kills the men trying to kill him and goes after the head of the organization. He threatens the boss and tells him to leave him and the girl alone and let them disappear. He and the girl disappear in a small coastal town to be left alone.

This film stars Matt Damon as a man found adrift in the sea by fisherman. He has been shot in the back and a laser device with an address for a bank in his hip. After being healed he cannot remember anything about himself - he has amnesia!
We watch and discover along with him; parts of his life. He has tremendous observation skills and a keen tactical mind. When he is arrested by two policemen for sleeping on a park bench he knocks them out with great fight moves and ease. His only clue leads him to a bank where in a safety deposit he has several thousands of foreign currency and dozens of passports, each with a different name and a gun. He is left with the only conclusion he can think of - he's a criminal.
However with the help of a wandering french woman we discover that he is too highly trained to be a criminal and that the people who are after him are those on his side. The CIA believe he is a renegade and attempt to clean-up his failed mission which started him on this self-discovery.
A brilliant film with some great action sequences and a plot that you can think about or ignore - depending on taste. Matt Damon was excellent I now see him in a totally different way from when he was in 'Good Will Hunting'.

Matt Damon plays a character who is fished out of the Mediterranean with two bullets in his back and a capsule in his hip that has a Swiss bank account number. He has no idea who he is. While traveling to fetch whatever's in the Swiss box, he discovers he speaks several languages, knows martial arts, and can handle weapons. Eventually his bosses at the CIA are after him as well as the local authorities, and he finds himself asking a young woman with a car for help. Damon is no Richard Chamberlain (who played Bourne in a 1988 TV production of what is probably Robert Ludlum's best thriller), but he does all right, and the action sequences are pretty exhilarating. The fabulous Franka Potente is wasted as the girl, but Chris Cooper acquits himself well in yet another thankless role as the CIA section chief. This film is better than one might have expected, but eminently forgettable.

Matt Damon plays Jason Bourne, an Black Ops Assassin who suffers with amnesia and tries to piece together his identity while being hunted down by the CIA who believe he has become a wild card operative. The film develops nicely allowing the viewer to go along while Damon tries to figure out the puzzle of his life. The plot is believable and the action is great! If you are a fan of summer action movies but, are distaining enough to demand a good storyline The Bourne Identity is worth your while. There is a car chase scene that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Also, the fight scenes are dynamic and exciting. The Bourne Identity allows you sit back and enjoy what summer blockbuster action films are all about. And of course you also get your Hollywood ending.
