Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Empire Records
Empire Records is a grunge-hard rock, record store. Lucas, an orphaned teen, works at Empire and is allowed to close up for the first time, but when he 'accidentaly' finds plans to turn empire records into a big corporate 'music town' he takes the day's money to atlantic city to double it in order to save empire, but ends up losing all of it. The next day is filled with plans of getting back the money, plus to make things more complicated, Deb comes into the store with a bandage on her wrist and shaves her head, Mark decides to start a band, A.J. has to tell Corey he loves her by 1:27, Corey's planning on getting rid of her virginity, today, Gina reveals Corey's big secret and washed up singer rex manning is in the middle of all of it along with shoplifter 'warren'.

The movie is about saving a great record store from going corporate. The store is run by Joe and most of the employees are teens on the verge of going to college. This comedy shows a fair slice of the teen population varying from dopey Mark(or Marc for the trippy psychidellic thing), fast Gina, idiot Eddy, lovestruck artist AJ, suicidal Deb, and the all inportant misunderstood closet speed freak.

Empire Records is the movie of seven kids and their boss all working at an independent record store. The movie starts with the store in jeopardy of being sold into a chain in order to improve sales. Thoughout the couse of the one day the movie covers, the depressed/suicidal chick tries to kill herself, the slut and her best friend a closet speed addict hash it out in front of everyone and the hot guy admits his love from the girl he's been chasing for 5 years. The major conflict begins with the secondary character losing all the previous days profits in Atlantic City. The main character, the boss of the store, attempts to find/cover up the lost money before his boss catches him. In the end, somehow everything is worked out and the entire cast is friends and have accomplised their goals. It leaves you with a warm happy feeling.

This movie is everything 90's, from the AMAZING soundtrack (Gin Blossoms, The Cranberries, Better Than Ezra, Toad the Wet Sprocket, etc), to the Doc Martens, grunge look and school uniform skirts. The plot revolves around a group of kids trying to save the beloved record store they work at....while just about everything that CAN happen in one day DOES happen, to all of them.
