Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Charlotte's Web
In this movie young charming Dakota Fanning plays the role of a farm girl, who saves the life of the runt pig Wilbur. But after that the talking spider named Charlotte (voiced by Julia Roberts), save the porker again and again.

Only Fern see that Wilbur is a special animal as she raises him. When Wilbur was moves into a new barn he finds new second friend, with a totally different creature, a spider named Charlotte. Wilbur and Charlotte develop a special bond and their bond inspires the other animals around them to come together as a family. They were living happily like a family but soon the word gets out that Wilbur's days are numbered, as if only a miracle will save his life. A spider Charlotte is determined to make the farmers understand that Wilbur is extraordinary and worth saving.

This movie is rated G. The other barnyard's animal vocal cast is starry including Robert Redford, Kathy Bates, and Oprah.

Wilbur the pig is saved from slaughter by Fern. When it is time for Wilbur to be sold Fern talks her father into selling him to her uncle. Wilbur enlists the help of several barnyard animals to help him avoid death again and becomes quite a hit at the county fair because of the intricate webs spun by Charlotte the spider. Wilbur also helps the other animals.

Hanna-Barbera, not an entertainment company known for subtlety, put together this passable 1973 dramatization of E.B. White's immortal classic about a pig named Wilbur who fears ending up on the dinner table at the end of the harvest season, and the sweet, intelligent spider named Charlotte who devises a plan to save him. The animation is simple, not at all high tech, and the original songs may not be to every grownup's taste, but this is a nice introduction to the story that should appeal to most little ones. Gibson voices Wilbur to innocent perfection, Reynolds was a solid choice for Charlotte, Moorehead makes a great goose, and Lynde steals the show as Templeton the "what's in it for me?" rat.
