Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Peter Pan (1953)
Wendy and her brothers John and Michael are visited one night by Peter Pan, an eternal child with the magical gift of flight. Since Wendy has been contemplating the horrific notion of growing up (her father insists this is her last night in the nursery), Peter Pan decides to teach her and her brothers to fly and take them to Neverland, where they can live as children forever. So he grabs his fairy, Tinkerbell, sprinkles some magic fairy dust on them, and they fly off into the night. Neverland, while full of adventure, is a relatively harmless place thanks to the pathetically inept pirate, Captain Hook. He's completely obsessed with destroying Peter Pan, but all of his plots usually fail. When Wendy and the boys arrive in neverland, Hook concocts another plan which involves the usual kidnapping job, but this time he has inside help from a jealous Tinkerbell. His plan nearly works but Tinkerbell has a change of heart and Peter Pan defeats the pirates and rescues Wendy and the boys. By that time Wendy is ready to go home a grow up. Tinkerbell gladly obliges her and sprinkles fairy dust all over the pirate ship and they all sail back to the nursery.
