Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Breathless (A bout de souffle, 1960)
Based on a story by François Truffaut, BREATHLESS (A bout de souffle) is the first full-length movie of Jean-Luc Godard. The picture won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.

Jean-Paul Belmondo kills a policeman and must soon face a national manhunt. He falls in love with Jean Seberg, a young american journalist who's unaware of Belmondo's real identity. Both dream of leaving France for Italy but Seberg, when told by the police that she's dating a criminal, denounces Belmondo.
