| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about L'Avventura |
L'AVVENTURA is a movie co-written and directed by Michelangelo Antonioni in 1960. The picture won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
During a holiday trip on the Mediterranean Sea, Lea Massari, the girlfriend of Gabriele Ferzetti, disappears without leaving a trace. Ferzetti and Monica Vitti, the best friend of the missing Massari, will spend the next days looking for her. They hope that she has deliberately vanished after a nervous breakdown. Ferzetti, a rich playboy, has already forgotten Massari and tries to seduce Monica Vitti. Vitti, feeling guilty about her friend, at first resists but finally falls deeply in love with Ferzetti.
