| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Bridges of Madison County |
THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY is a movie directed by Clint Eastwood in 1995. Mery Streep earned a nomination in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category.
The setting is Iowa in the mid-sixties. Meryl Streep has devoted her life to her family and lives the rough farmer life with her husband and her two children. Born in Italy, she's followed Jim Haynie after WWII and soon forgets the dreams she made when arriving to America.
Left alone as her family goes to Chicago for a bull show, she meets Clint Eastwood, a photographer working for National Geographic, who's preparing an article about the bridges of the county. Both will deeply fall in love during this four day period but, at the end of it, Meryl won't leave her family to follow him.
