| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Red Shoes |
THE RED SHOES is a british production written and directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger in 1948. Five nominations for the Academy Awards.
Anton -Boris Lermontov- Walbrook is the authoritarian founder of the Lermontov Ballet Company. When Ludmila Tchérina, the main feminine star of the ballet, leaves the company in order to get married, Lermontov chooses Victoria -Moira Shearer- Page to replace her. The redhead girl becomes soon famous with her interpretation of Andersen's The Red Shoes. But Lermontov considers dance as an exclusive partner so he doesn't accept the affair between Victoria and the composer Julian Craster and fires him from the company. Victoria Page's life looks more and more like the life of the Red Shoes's heroine.
