Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Monkey Business
Four bumbling fools, Groucho, Harpo, Chico and Zeppo stow away on a cruise ship. They run around like maniacs, causing trouble and annoying the passengers as the Captain and crew try to catch them.
Groucho and Zeppo run into Alky, a gangster and he recruits them to work for him as he goes after Big Joe Helton, a racketeer.
However, Chico and Harpo run into Helton and are recruited to be his bodyguards against Alky.
Back on dry land, Helton throws a party to introduce his daughter, Mary.
Both Helton and Alky think all four men work for him, but the men don't really work for either of them, they're just messing around.
However, when Mary, whom Zeppo has fallen in love with is kidnapped by Alky and his men, the four men track them to a barn.
The four men beat up Alky and his henchmen and rescue Mary.

Carey Grant, as "Barnaby" the scientist, is working unsuccessfully to develop a youth potion. Then while the lab is empty, a chimp escapes its cage, pours together Barnaby's chemicals (magically making a successful youth potion) and drops them into the lab's water dispenser.   Barnaby unknowingly drinks the water and miraculously behaves 20 years younger, to much comic effect. Marilyn Monroe plays a game but ditsy secretary to Barnaby's boss, and goes along with Barnaby on his first youthful escapade out on the town one afternoon. Ginger Rogers, playing Barnaby's wife, also mistakenly drinks the potion and adds much comic delight to this story of what it means to grow old, or at least, middle-aged.
