| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Hudsucker Proxy |
THE HUDSUCKER PROXY is a movie written (with Samuel Raimi)produced and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen in 1994. The picture earned a nomination for the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival.
A homage to the films of Frank Capra, THE HUDSUCKER PROXY tells the story of Tim Robbins, freshly arrived in New-York, who's propelled to the head of the Hudsucker Industries company by Paul Newman who's absolutely needing a puppet at that place in order to make the stock of the company fall low. At that time, Newman will be able to buy all the stock he wants at a cheap price. Other plots include a love story between Tim Robbins and the journalist Jennifer Jason Leigh who's hired as a secretary by the naive Robbins quickly seduced by the young woman and the apparition as a kindly angel of the former President of Hudsucker Industries Charles Durning.
